Socialcast Email Notifications

|   Oct 11, 2012

Make your Socialcast email notifications work for you, not against you. Socialcast email notifications are extremely powerful when tailored to your specific needs. They allow you to stay on top of conversations that are the most important to your everyday work, whether that is a specific group discussion, or a question posted in the stream.

To change email notifications go to Settings> Notification Settings.

Notifications settings have four different categories:

1) Email me when someone:
This group of settings manages interactions between you and other community members. For the most part, these notifications are important because they ensure you never miss a message or comment on important topics. However, there are a couple of notifications we find many users opt out of:

  • When someone “Joins the Community”
  • When someone “Accepts my community invite”
  • When someone “Sends a Thanks to my direct report”

2) Email me when someone posts to the group:
This is where you will find the settings for group notifications. While you might belong to many groups, if is unlikely you need to be notified of every post in the every group you belong to. As a best practice we recommend getting notifications from the groups that you work with everyday.

3) Email me when I:
You have the option of getting email notifications when you share something directly out of your email, or when you have not participated in the community for longer than one week. The one-week notification is a great way to make sure that you stay on top of the latest information in your community and continue to contribute to the conversation.

4) Email digests:
Set daily or weekly email digest notifications of various activities in your community. You have the option of turning off the digest notification if this is not of interest.

Premium Socialcast customers have the option of contacting their account manager to help them set default notifications for their community. As a premium community admin, you have two options when setting the default notification settings for your community; opt-in or opt-out:

  • Opt-In (If set, users will not receive any email notifications without ‘opting-in’ via the user settings page.)
  • Opt-Out (Users will receive email notifications unless they choose to opt-out in their notifications settings.)
