Sweet infographic! But the word freelancer has become a very cliche word. I prefer independent entrepreneur myself when I started solo over 10 years ago. I can tell you that technology has made it easier for anyone these days to really embrace working independently but experience and your work is what sets you off from the rest.
Don’t forget services like Beanstalk http://www.beanstalkapp.com/ or GitHub https://github.com/ that allows for social coding and version control amongst a small and large team of designers and developers.
Great graphic! I am sharing it. I agree with the development of solopreneurs as a force and adaptation to all the changes of what has become, in many situations, a closed-in, stultifying work environment in many organization where creativity is low and innovation is even lower.
New deal organizations have started from scratch to build healthier cultures. Old deal (think Roosevelt), have got a long row to hoe to be able to flex and adapt and reinvent. Reengineering, transformations, and other change initiatives, as “installations” vs. realizations (Daryl Connor) have not made things better. They’ve only maintained…while budgets continue to shrink.
Great Info! My only comment is we need to collectively raise our rates
Absolutely AMAZING infographic and might I say it was very INFOrmative too! lol – Just AMAZING. I was shocked to see that a majority of the freelancers are still comering from North America. I would of thought that number would have balanced out with many of the third world countries/ and some of the “emerging” markets.. I don’t know though – that’s just my opinion, lol. Fantastic post socialcast – im happy that I “stumbled” on this specific infographic – really attracted me to the rest of this site

This is an amazing piece of work. Thanks for all your research and for sharing. I am shocked that only under 10% of freelancers have considered returning to full time employment.
Great graphic! The information really helps and I know I am definitely in the right line of work as a freelancer!
All the best!
